Good morning –

I hope that you are doing well and had a great summer. I just received your reminder to register for the CAC event this coming Friday. Regarding that event, I was planning on registering today but then I read Mr. Johnston’s repulsive, unsubstantiated comments regarding the migrant groups on their way to Mexico. I understand the Chamber to be a fact-based organization, so it is extremely disappointing to learn that one of its directors has taken to embracing conspiracy theories (whether right- or left-winged) with no evidence whatsoever. Mr. Johnston is a prime example of what is wrong with today’s politics – filled with misinformation, innuendo, conspiracies and outright lies. In short, I will not be attending this coming event or any other event that involves Mr. Johnston.

Campbell Soup has made a public statement condemning Mr. Johnston’s comments; is the Chamber willing to do the same?

Nice job. To Bucky, too.

This is how the GOP has made continuous progress moving the country to the right over the last few decades. They don't rest and they are never satisfied. If someone gives in on something, they push even harder. We need to do the same. With any luck, this guy will be out of his position in due course.

I defriended a facebook friend a few weeks ago and she believes this stuff. She posted about Clinton being a witch and part of some devil coven. I'm saying that there are some very bad actors who will stop at nothing to keep the status quo. The status quo falls apart if the Dems win some house of congress and can open investigations. I personally think Trump is capable of nearly anything because he's shown that to be the case time and time again. Whenever we think there's a line he won't cross, he crosses it. That said, I'm much more concerned about people or groups who are not directly related to him. The same type of people who sent these bombs.
