What really distinguishes a Trump-supporting white voter from one who doesn’t isn’t education or even gender, it's whether or not that voter is evangelical.

@realDonaldTrump
What’s going on at @CNN is happening, to different degrees, at other networks - with @NBCNews being the worst. The good news is that Andy Lack(y) is about to be fired(?) for incompetence, and much worse. When Lester Holt got caught fudging my tape on Russia, they were hurt badly!

Was just coming to post this tweet and saw Moma's post. For God's sake, is nobody who can do something about it concerned that our president has lost his grip on reality? His tweets and public comments seem to be getting more and more volatile and fantasy-based.

He hasn’t lost his grip on reality. These are intentional lies designed to create a new reality.

an aspect of authoritarianism is if the facts aren't to your advantage, you create new facts. since he wants to be one, this is what he does.

To Milty's point, and sort of backing of the blur that 06 recognizes, I am not sure. Evangelicals are their own thing now. Some ultra pious, narrow focused, political thing. I think that there is a small byut noisy subset of Christians who view themselves as Evangelicals. I have always though of this as "the born again crowd", which to me were people that picked a time/date that they 'accepted Christ'. I also always felt that coming late to the party, in my eyes, made people somehow feel superior. It is also something that as it becomes more radical, I reject as right thinking. Most of "us" are not hateful IMO, nor are we superior. So I am not helping with a definition, but sort of extricating the masses from being cast with that lot.

Not pay raises for federal employees next year so Trump can “put our Nation on a fiscally sustainable course.” Thanks tax cuts!

If your church has more than 400 seats

you're an evangelical

Well, we can only hope that this decision costs Republicans votes in November and Trump votes in 2020 (assuming he runs).

If Trump eliminates locality pay he will cut the average federal employee's salary by 25%.

Uncle Milty wrote:Part of the question from the linked article is they counted those who self-identified as evangelical. Think that muddies it.

During the primaries one of Trump's strongest groups were self id'd evangelicals who didn't regularly attend church services.

At this point he's doing just fine with the church going ones as well (as long as they're white), but they weren't a core Trump group until the general.

Devastating for federal employees and politically devastating to the GOP. I think cooler heads will prevail. It is a lose lose situation for everyone involved as things stand.

“I have determined that for 2019, both across‑the‑board pay increases and locality pay increases will be set at zero,” he wrote. “These alternative pay plan decisions will not materially affect our ability to attract and retain a well‑qualified Federal workforce,” Trump added.

That is a bold faced lie. Why would someone select public service if they cannot afford basic necessities? In certain locations being a fed will be a losing position.

I guess there is more than one way to skin a deep state.
