Best news story of the week is that when it was being covered that the WV teachers demands were met there was a side story about how they made sure that they took care of their kids working with groups, and working in shifts to make sure that these needy children were fed, and had a safe place to be during the day (primarily churches). No body get to call them selfish or greedy.

Seen reports that statewide teacher strikes are being contemplated in Kentucky and Oklahoma. Unlike WVa, those states don't have the tradition of labor activism that WVa has. But still, if any teachers have good reason to strike (and not just for selfish reasons as the Oklahoma government is basically dismantling public ed there) it's teachers in Oklahoma and presumably things are just as bad in Kentucky. I'd be surprised if teachers in either state manage the solidarity in WVa, but you never know.

I don't know about Kentucky, but Oklahoma is horrible. Sometime in the last couple of weeks I mentioned that there were some administrators making around $260,000 who were cheerleading that they have saved Budget on not running buses. It's unconscionable to think that public education is something that is Wade in some depraved money-saving scheme.
