Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, says he promises to pay back taxpayers for funds from a special congressional account he used to pay a harassment settlement back in 2013.

Farenthold told NBC affiliate KRIS6 in Corpus Christi that he "didn't do anything wrong" but would "do my best" to repay the settlement fee sometime this week, this time taking out a personal loan instead.

"Even though I was completely exonerated by OCE, and the settlement agreement has been paid. I'm doing my best and am going to hand a check over this week to probably Speaker Ryan or somebody and say look here's the amount of my settlement, give it back to the taxpayers," said Farenthold.

Dude's a millionaire so he need to take out a personal loan? WTF? And the pay in exchange for a 'do nothing wrong' does not mean a thing. Maybe he should consult Conyers. Wait, hang on, he is not a democrat, so he gets to stay, no questions asked. Sorry, I was wrong to suggest anything otherwise.

I love Mitt's integrity and all, but he is pretty much helping Roy Moore get elected with stuff like this. There is an adolescent oppositional defiance disorder streak running through a certain segment of the GOP voting block, and the more people like Mitt Romney - the very image of "Dad" - comes and finger waves and says "Naughty naughty," the more they dig in their heels.

I'm trying to think of who could pull off standing on purely moral grounds and shame the voters of Alabama into not voting for Roy Moore, and the only person I can come up with is Mr. Rogers. Too bad he's dead. He had that kind of moral authority - the key to it being, he rarely, rarely, rarely chose to use it.

New Gravis Poll has Jones +4 taken Dec 1-3 (was previously Jones +5). Race is going to be a nailbiter, throw in some change to Jones if you can spare.

Mitt isn’t trying to impact the Alabama race, he’s trying to position himself as a Republican politician who can walk out of the dumpster fire the Republican Party is creating. It’s for voters in Utah, not Alabama.

I wouldn't think Mitt Romney needs to scold Alabama voters to win an election in Utah...

Now, if he wants to run for senator from some other place, or I guess President again when DJT is impeached, I take your point.

Hatch has been giving a wet kiss to Trump for months now. Trump has endorsed Moore.

This is all Romney cares about.

How is the embassy location in Israel a "for the base" issue? I think that the base has little idea except that it has heard of Jerusalem from the bible, and Tel Aviv is a total mystery. Is it really just another promise kept thing?I am not sure if I am missing something with that thread. Of course it is a terrible idea because of further disruption to any form of peace in the region.

This Philadelphia Ordinance about plexiglass windows has at least taught me that there's a type of retail establishment called a Beer Deli.

Thing seems silly to me. I've been to places like that, and yeah, they aren't very welcoming. But if customers find them too offensive, there are other places to shop. And if owners find them necessary for their security, I don't want to be the one to tell them no, and then have something happen.

evangelical leaders and sects believe Israel is very important for reasons that many Israelis may find a tad weird

they basically want Jews to flock to Israel to then possibly convert to Christianity before the rapture and second coming of Jesus

That is strange stuff. I'll need to ask for a sermon on that, and then I might need to find a new church.

Here is part of the bucket of crazy I mentioned before where the guest uses the hosts pregnancy as part of an argument for Moore. I missed most of the trip to the banana patch that the article describes, but saw enough to find these folks grotesque.

I truly don't know the plantiff's case in this but I can see both sides strictly from a legal standpoint. If they rule in favor of the baker, then sexual orientation needs to be a protected class come 2020. When we have a super majority and every branch of government...yes, then.
