"We all circled around him and Barbara for a photo, and I was right next to him," Grolnick said. "He reached his right hand around to my behind, and as we smiled for the photo he asked the group, 'Do you want to know who my favorite magician is?'"

"As I felt his hand dig into my flesh, he said, 'David Cop-a-Feel!'"

i'm sure he started this at 90 years old

Maybe, maybe not. I'm not sure if you have known any male family members/friends/neighbors that aged and had problems with dementia/alzheimers, but other behavioral changes typically accompany the well-known symptoms of memory loss. It's very sad, and trying for those people who knew the man before those changes occurred. In particular, impulse control can degrade, along with the previous held restraints and perceptions of right/wrong behavior. Any public outing with strangers/acquaintances is a stressful outing that includes the potential for inappropriate touching. This is also part of why dementia patients are so difficult to manage in senior assisted living arrangements; it's not just the memory loss, but the lack of impulse control.

I'm not sure if that's happened with Bush, but I can certainly empathize with his family and handlers if this is what they are going through. If this is true, I believe strongly that these end of life changes should not affect a President's legacy, unless it's used constructively to open a dialogue about mental health and old age.

This was a well-made point and I certainly hope you are right. When I was a kid I really got into the 1992 election and I cried when GHWB lost. Although in my maturity my politics have evolved substantially, I always retained an admiration for him, and I have always thought of him as true gentleman. It definitely pained me to read these reports yesterday.

One thing, though: if you are right and senility/dementia is to blame for some behavioral changes, I feel like the cat is out of the bag now. I, for one, would much rather be known as someone who suffered from dementia in his declining years, should I get that far, than someone who thought nothing of using what power and position he had to grope and humiliate women. All of this is to say: if President Bush is suffering from dementia and this is the result, I think the family would be well-advised to come clean now, if only so as to preserve his reputation and begin contributing to that dialogue about mental health, as you suggest.

This is a man who chose Dan Quayle to be his running mate and Vice President of the United States. He’s had issues for a long time.

They rebroadcast A1 @ 8PM in DC. The first 13 or so minutes they just chewed up Jeff Flake as a grand stander lame duck whiner. That was in response to his speech. Basically called it disingenuous and said that they cannot scrape him of cable news networks. If he really was a principled guy he would not be bleating, but try to work the system and they had no evidence that he did. Plenty of evidence that he wrote a book, gave a speech, and said look at me. Every guest had unnice things to say about him. It was eye opening.

pacino wrote:here's a report from 2 weeks ago about all this...PREPA declined mutual aid agreements that were already in place to give out this contract

Earlier this week, PREPA CEO Ricardo Ramos told E&E News that his bankrupt utility did not reach out to munis on the continental U.S. because he was unsure it could pay them back for assistance. About 90% of the island remains without power weeks after the storm hit.

The American Public Power Association (APPA), the trade group for U.S. munis, confirmed that mutual assistance programs were not activated, but said PREPA had already contracted with Whitefish Energy by the time the trade group convened a conference call to coordinate aid. PREPA did not respond to requests for comment.

Florida and Texas went this route (if you remember PA sent people down, as did every other state capable) and Congress steps in to reimburse the money to help pay. this is how it usually works.

Something's up.

Keep in mind that these utilities just can't send folks all the time. It's still hurricane season so there's a need to have assets nearby at all times. Further, there are reliability projects that need to get done to ensure the fort is well protected in advance of winter, at least in the NE. so, there may have been good reason not to execute the mutual assistance.

With that said, this deal is 100% corrupt. Someone is getting a kickback on this.

Was Matt Schlapp, Ron Christie and Racheal Bobart on the panel. I circled back to listen. Perhaps their opinion is generated by being supportive of the president. Part of the messaging is that establishment republicans like McCain are out of touch... The piece about Flake is shorter then I remembered because of the build up, the a shift to Corker. It blended into slice and dice of these three, which carried the time.

The eye opening part for me was the rejection of storied republicans. I did not realize Schlapp was there as he is a Trump defender. They did an equally introspective critique of the Dems earlier this week.

He has shown he either cannot empathize or is really bad at it and he doesn't drink. I'm sure that antiquated Just Say No attitude makes sense in his mind.

Whitefish contract was leaked to Julianna Goldman of CBS News. Apparently there was a clause that prohibited government agencies from auditing or reviewing cost and profit. #transparency

I actually invented this phrase to solve the drug problem, and you know what, it's working. It's amazing: "Just say no." It's really catching on, and it's such a great thing to see. "Just say no." It's simple, really. Since I've started saying it, drug use is plummeting. It's at a record low, actually. So great to see, and you know what, the Democrats don't give me any credit for it. Shameful. We're doing great work here, and the lyin' liberals don't want to give me credit for anything, for any of the lives we've saved. We're saving dozens of lives every minute, and the fake news just wants to talk about liddle porkers and flaky senators. I was elected with record numbers, first president in 300 years to have 300 electoral votes... no one said I could do it. But they don't want to report on it! Incredibly unfair.

LOL. That's hilarious, because while I'm not a lawyer, I doubt that's legal.
