Well, being lectured on the fragile state of the political world and why words are important from a North Korean has to smart a little...

From a commander of the North Korean army: "The U.S. President at [golf] links again let out a load of nonsense about 'fire and fury,' failing to grasp the ongoing grave situation. It seems that he has not yet understood the statement. Sound dialogue is not possible with such a guy bereft of reason and only absolute force can work with him."

Do you really think it would've been a big deal if the comms director on Obama's campaign had a kid out of wedlock with a staffer?

Nope.

Doesn't change the fact that it ABSOLUTELY would've somehow been twisted to reflect on Obama. FFS, the dude supposedly had to "prove" he was American.

We would be able to if he had a kid out of wedlock with a staffer. You honestly don't think that would've gotten more play on Fox News than the Poupon President "scandal"?

Baseless defenses of your party's gross standard bearers are why so many laugh when you try to be "reasonable" with your faux Trump outrage.

Not to parse, but it wouldn't have been a big deal. Sure would have gotten lots of play on breitbart/fox news though.

I think with the general fascination with Trump's inner circle and the circus around the campaign & administration, news like this gets bigger distribution than similar news about a top Obama aide would've gotten.

It seems to me Bannon, Kellyanne, Manafort etc. have all received significantly more attention than any campaign staffers I can remember. Like, I don't even know what David Plouffe looks like. I had never heard of Obama's comms director on his re-elect (Brent Colburn) until looking him up just now.

But you could completely name Jason Miller because he was a) out in front as one of the more outrageously angry surrogates, and b) aside from a youthful indiscretion, he was almost the communications director of the WH.

FWIW: In my optic, these folks work behind the scenes and should not be known. I should not have any idea what JMiller looks like, but I do. I think only Dubke from Obama's time has been a rather public persona, but that is cashing out and making the rounds

Maybe that is because they are more newsworthy than other staffs. By newsworthy, I mean incompetent and evil.

Trump now: "North Korea better get their act together or they are going to be in trouble like few nations have ever been in trouble"

BREAKING: Trump on his `fire and fury' warning to North Korea: Maybe statement wasn't tough enough.

Why the fascination with Team Trump? Well it has a lot to do with how in your face they are about how smart & right they are while spewing something between absurdity and flat out lies. Lets face it things like Conway's Bowling Green Massacre, and the subsequent defense of the fabrication are pretty news worthy. It is lying for effect. Alternately, Manafort being so completely intertwined with all things Russia are a pretty big thing. Gorka taking the insane, push your (nuclear missile) button statements by DJT and amped it up 3 fold is horrifyingly news worthy (I am certain countries have gone to war over this level of ineptitude). Aver all is just underlines the leadership deficient and highlights the tragic decision making at the top. The staffers are more part of this machine then any other presidency, and they are pressed out there as such, so while it is a circus, it is one that cannot really be ignored.
