—Lowering prescription drug prices. Suggestions include a new agency that could investigate drug manufacturer price hikes and allow Medicare to negotiate directly for the best drug prices.
—Cracking down on corporate monopolies. Democrats would enact new standards to limit large mergers, and create a new consumer competition advocate.
—Creating millions more jobs. The agenda includes proposals for expanding apprenticeships and providing a tax credit to employers to train and hire new workers.

President Obama started to work on this towards the end (they denied some mergers), but if we start to change the standard of what is a monopoly from 'does it affect prices' to 'does it affect wages/bargaining power' this could be big.

BSA is damned if you do, damned if you don't. Its previous policy against homosexuality was wrong. Certainly it was following the line of giving access to predators, which is almost provably false (the only way I can see it is some guy without a connection to the program via his child wanting to be part of it, but that is also something I have never seen and the units do not just take anyone). There are safe guards in place that are adequate. Also, I know that units have long had their own, 'on the ground' policies in working with adult volunteers. The log to jump over was a very aggressive legal pipeline set up to essentially shut BSA down over the stance versus the huge percentage of Mormon and Catholic churches that sponsor units which are now working on walking away. It is a failure curve that the organization is on, and one that it might not survive in any recognizable form.

The political philosophy is that there is not one, and the underlying theory is that by providing opportunity and building skills into you men, they will be productive citizens independent of the political leadership. With the President, he is to be a figurehead and a role model by tradition. The relationship is to be symbiotic where there is a special relationship enjoyed by the organization, and the organization deploys it vast human resources to do good in the community. Trump should have easily understood the time and place, then filtered to act appropriately. Had BSA not honored its tradition, then it would have entered the political fray, yet here they are. It is an intractable situation.

So what should BSA have done other then expected that someone would have helped the president, the Fucking PRESIDENT, understand what is appropriate to present to a service organization consisting of youth ages 11 to 17 and 364 days old? Why would we need to expect that this type of reminder need be given? This remains just one of a constant reminder of the general failure of leadership.

Obama DOJ was too light on anti-competitive fronts but hopefully this is a step in the right direction.
