Jon Huntsman being in the news reminds me of Huntsman 2012, which was one of the dumbest things imaginable, managed by John Weaver, who is fucking terrible and also gave us Kasich 2016.

Unfortunately for them, they are getting what they asked for. It might have taken a bit for some people but perhaps it is finally sinking in just how serious they should have taken the election.

Official talking point around the "secret meeting" is that there is no there, there so get over it. Nothing happened, which sounds like Donnie Jr attack vector. There are important things going on, so pay attention to what is happening with 'Made in America' week. Obviously the problem is that only three people know what happened, and none are going to talk unless Russia needs leverage. when you peel away the false layers of businessman, rich person, politician what you are left with is that Donald is a conman. He's been one for years. Conmen, when their backs are against the wall and the truth about their promises are revealed, tend to start flailing wildly, like you stated:

he's been failing upwards for 40 years and has been successfully pulling the wool over the eyes of an increasingly larger and larger portion of Americans. i'm really not sure if the dam will break with that segment of society, but that segment has at least stopped growing. he's lyle lanley, and it's high time he skips town.

then, we can properly focus on the root of the problem, the rot in the GOP.

He and I probably agree on most things politically. He runs the same presidential campaign every time, and it's really dumb every time.

Huntsman deciding to run as a centrist in 2012 would be like if Klobuchar (or some other standard issue progressive Dem senator or governor not from NY or California) decided to run a 2020 presidential campaign hyping the one or two issues they strayed from party orthodoxy and ran against the "coastal elites" because they dominate the party, alienate middle america, and cause Democrats to lose. Whether or not there are kernels of truth in your message, insulting the voters you need to vote for you and emphasizing points of disagreement rather than agreement are bad ways to win elections (but good ways to get booked on Sunday shows and have an open door to the NYT op-ed page after you lose).
