POLITICS THREAD boo

Mitch McConnell has the memory of a rat:

McConnell said the current administration is pursuing an agenda that "folks outside don't agree with."

"They had their shot in the election. ... But in this country when you win the election you get to make policy. I always remind people, winners make policy and losers go home."

obstruction is just rude

I try to resist going all wonky on health coverage issues, but I promise not to get too carried away here:

I understand the appeal of "single payer", but single payer is a slogan rather than an operational model for health coverage

I'm all for something like "health coverage as easy to shop & buy from several participating insurers as it is with books & booksellers on amazon.com, but with an option to 'phone an expert' friend', with those credentialed friends being compensated via commissions that are built into insurance premiums already, but no one tells you that because reasons - but you can get expert help for free but no one knows it"

but it needs a snappier tagline, obviously
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I would love to collapse 300 trillion pennies (approximate annual US health care spend; 7.5 million tons of pennies, I believe) on david bratt's face

"Losers go home"? I guess senators only represent the voters who elected them. Way to unite the country Mitch

Spicer is saying that the town hall protests are a hybrid mix of real anger and manufactured/professional protesters that are media whores.
Quick Google shows that GoGo is wrong with regards to the Kiwi and the Banana.

Not sure why I still listen to Spicer, I should just get my outrage filtered through twitter notifications.

The Speaker assures us this:

1. Trump care will provide what Obama care did not. Affordable, comprehensive health care.
2. Old people are just confused with what their medical plan is, so Obama care does not matter
3. The USA / Mexico have a great relationship

Did Speaker Ryan and word mangler Spicer use the exact same phrases to describe our relationship with Mexico? Not sure if the person on the radio was being lazy in reporting, but she said the same phrase. I am just wondering how far to the unrecoverable Ryan is.

What ever made you think Paul Ryan was recoverable? He's a sadist, who will enjoy depriving people of health care. I think he's enjoying playing into Trump's worst tendencies. Indeed, I think if somehow Trump and Pence were in fact impeached, things would get a whole lot worse a whole lot faster.

I though he would shift toward center/sanity to enhance his future political endeavors. I did not expect him to lean across the aisle or anything, but I though he might be less lap dog, and more dog with teeth. To hear very similar words used is sad, so sad.

he almost became vice president by never tacking to the center; i'm not sure there's any evidence that tacking to the center for a republican politician bears any sort of fruit on a national stage.

True words. Doesn't mean it will always be true, of course.
