Two of my uncles were mummers, my dad did it for a year... me, as a kid I thought it sucked. As an adult, it's overrated.

This pretty much proves that a hot dog is a sandwich. If a sausage on a long roll is a sausage sandwich (and what else would it be?) then a hotdog (which of course is a kind of sausage) on a bun is most assuredly a sandwich as well.
