No I haven't but that is right up my alley, thanks for thinking of me. A lot of the work I do on consciousness is a means for mimicking psychedelic states of being in "normal" "everyday" capacities to help stabilize stuff like depression, addiction, adhd, autism, alzheimers, dementia, etcetc. That awakening energy from substances can serve as a spark for what can be found right in our minds and bodies too. I'll check it out! Did you?
yeah i'm almost half way through it and it's pretty good. just makes me want to get some acid really!

Dead and Company is playing at the BB&T in Camden on June 20th. Phish is playing there on the 28th,29,30. Go to the Lot on your magic carpet and it is there you will find treasures :d: 8-)

Finished volume 1 of War and Peace. (There are four total volumes and an epilogue, so I'm about a quarter of the way through.)

I have to say it's surprisingly entertaining. I think he does a great job describing how participants in combat rarely have any idea what's going on, and there's also a surprising amount of humor.

War and Peace is amazing. it's kind of sad to me that it became shorthand for a boring slog. although there are some longer ruminative passages, there's also tons of drama and it's often thrilling

I really enjoyed Mark Fisher's The Weird and the Eerie. I was expecting to like it but not to find it so easily engaging. I think any fans of Thacker's recent Horror of Philosophy books would have a good time with it. also added about a dozen books and movies to my list of things to read and watch

Finished Dark Matter today. It was good too. Anyone have any recommendations of something to read while I wait for the 3rd expanse book to come back to the library?

Been reading a bunch of sci-fi lately, could go for some other kind of fiction, nothing dense, something that’s good to pickup during my lunch breaks

Reading an interesting underdog book about taking chances, blocking out the noise, belief in yourself and god. Called Fearless by Doug Pederson. Would recommend
“I don’t coach losers, I only coach winners.” Mike Krzyzewski

Tom Brady bereft on the turf, it has literally been ripped from his grasp

I loved Seven Killings and started it as soon as it came out. Gave up 25 percent in. Will try again at some point. So......yes
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

this definitely got a lot better after page 150/200 or so, but remained deeply strange in terms of how the story is told, the protagonist's whole ethos, and how the world works. frustrating and a page turner at the same time. there are plenty of beautiful or exciting passages and a great knack for cranking up the action when you least expect it. wouldn't strongly recommend it but wouldn't dissuade anyone either and I probably will read the sequel if it ever comes out

Finally started Don Winslow's The Border today at the beach. Can't put it down. Been waiting forever to read this after reading his first two in the trilogy. Pretty much going to spend the rest of the weekend plopped in the sand trying to blow through it.

Almost done Sapiens. Put it off for a while because I'm a wannabe contrarian and hate giving in to hype, but it lives up to it. Great read.

Do not know why The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao won the pulitzer. Well written and engaging but felt off and hollow, especially given the allegations surrounding Diaz.

Half-way through The Nix and liking it a lot.

Wow, WTF are the chances of two BSGers reading the same book at the same time? I just finished this last week and felt the same way.

Moved on to A Prayer for the City in the last few days. Bissinger is a friggin' weirdo but this is really well done so far.
