Potatoes- B-, was a touch too greasy for my tastes so teh cheese didnt crisp up enough, the chive sour cream was excellent and flavor was good

Teryaki meatballs- A-, very good flavor, tender, homemade teryaki sauce was excellent, next time I'd use less scallions in the meatballs

Churros with chocolate sauce- A, almost an A+ if prep wasn't such a bitch. The dough was like wet, sticky PlayDo and was difficult to pipe out of the pastry bag (I had to enlist my son to snip the ends as I piped) Plus you have to work fast because the dough gets harder to pipe as it cools (you parcook the dough) But they were amazing as far as taste, texture and appearance.

yeah, we got some crescent roll puff pastry(probably Pillsbury(wasn't paying attention)). rolled it out and made squares. took dijon mustard and spread it over the squares. put in some cut up kielbasa(no skin) and then rolled 'em up almost like a dumpling or something. then threw them in the toaster oven for a while till the pastry was cooked.

mustard on the side.

That sounds awesome.

I made Korean fish soup tonight with lemongrass, pak choi, potatoes, onion, lime, fresh basil, and a red pepper paste base. Served with white rice. I also added a few kaffir lime leaf to a second bowl and that added an interesting twist. I may do that for the whole pot next time..

We had an East-West Lunar New Year Fest on Saturday.

Home made dumplings (shrimp or pork), fried rice, pickled radish rolls, roasted brussels, ham, macaroni salad.

One of the world's best chefs was in Lausanne, a medium sized city about an hour from here on the lake. He shot himself a few days ago. Apparently, he got involved in some wine-selling ponzi scheme and lost his shirt, and then his head.

Well I briefly met Chris Kimball during the book signing (I asked him since he's a dead head and from Vermont if he likes Phish- he said they're "ok"). But I had a longer and more interesting interaction with Dan Souza (one of the newer chefs on the show) since we ended up at the back of the line and he was onstage helping the crew so we shouted for him to come down for a pic. Very nice guy.

But that's not how I was invited

My churro pic caught the eye of the Cooks Country Instagram account and he/she tagged the chefs who made the recipe so they could see the pic. One of the chefs, Bryan Roof, (who's also had a few tv spots) apparently then looked at my entire Instagram account and commented that I had "quite the catalog" of ATK recipes and I should be a guest to tour the studio/test kitchen. We exchanged a dm and asked me to email the date I'll be in town. So that was this morning so I'm waiting to hear back.
