You don't have to boil the brine before pouring over the veggies? Have you found that some types of veggies work better than others? I assume that you have done cucumbers...did you slice them, quarter them, leave them whole?

Did this on Sunday and tried them last night. They're great! Thanks for the recipe.

I used English cucumbers that I sliced and quartered into pieces just long enough to fit in the jars. Made one jar spicy and another without peppers for the rest of the family.

From the first review:

I am a holistic nutritionist and a follower of a lower carb/paleo/primal lifestyle (and yes, it is not only a food regimen, but a lifestyle).

Anyway....might just pick this up.

Any appetizer recipes for a guy with a cooking IQ below 100? Preferably not a dip.

I ended up making this Brussel sprout guys up thread. They were great. If you can, cook them at the house where the party is.

Yes a dip but...

Chop up some rotisserie chicken
Mix it with a block of softened cream cheese, a small tub of blue cheese, a cup of blue cheese dressing and a cup of Frank's hot sauce. Bake in casserole dish in oven at 350 for 20-25 minutes

Use pita chips and carrot sticks to dip

moi

one of the traditions I keep alive in regards to my mother is making xmas cookies and giving them out to friends
(she passed in 95 of cancer and I always used to help her make them)

since cooking/baking has become a hobby of mine in the last 3 years, I've stepped up my cookie game from 4 varieties for 10 people to 13 varieties for 25 people (internationally now including the UK, Canada and Australia)

it's one of those things that I love to do but I think I've overwhelmed myself this year

I'm exhausted why do I do this to myself?
