Got a bunch of pork butt leftover from pulled pork tacos the other night. Turning that into chili sounds like a plan.

This trend towards video recipes (esp. on Facebook) really pisses me off.

You've always had a thing against videos explaining things.

It's usually a very inefficient way to present information.

But they're more difficult to follow than a written recipe

all the onest i've seen are so easy, it's just throwing crap into a crock pot. i can see it being more difficult for more complex recipes or baking

it's also meant to get your interest too, so that you watch. i don't think the more difficult ones are meant to be watched and memorized when it autoplays the first time. it gets people to say "i want to make that" and look it up or watch again.

I don't like videos in general.

I'm not that fond of videos, but I like videos with text overlay. The recipe videos usually have a link to a written recipe. The videos help me see if what I'm making looks like what it should look like.

I like to watch the Big Green Egg videos. Gonna do some spare ribs tomorrow. The fat rednecks really know how to cook up them ribs. Plus, I always laugh when they say "ruuuuuubbbbbbb."

Turned out really nice, a few comments

Not a ton of heat but the pork flavor of the bacon and pork butt really came through so it was a good trade off
Next time I'd cut the Pork butt into 1/2" pieces instead of 1" pieces as it would have been easier to eat and I think the pork would have ended up more tender
Serving over rice was a nice addition and a good suggestion by my wife as it wasn't as thick as a ground beef chili

the pork didn't break down and stayed in cube size?

i left mine in the crock pot for 7 hours. by the end of that i did some slight pulling but for the most part it just fell apart. i cubed at about 1"+

bacon woulda been a good addition to mine. maybe next time.

It's meant to keep the shape, cooked for 2.5 hrs. Don't get me wrong it was tender and cooked, I just thought the smaller size would have made it a touch easier to eat.

I don't feel like reading this whole thread but doesn't anyone have any suggestions for party food that are relatively easy to make but delicious? My go to is buffalo chicken dip but someone already claimed it.
Quick Google shows that GoGo is wrong with regards to the Kiwi and the Banana.

Buy a nice large sour dough bread round
Carve out a bowl in the bread, save the bread and cut into bite sized cubes
Mix (softened) 8 oz cream cheese 12oz cheese dip like wispride cheddar (1 and 1/2 containers), about 1/3 cup of lager and 1tsp garlic powder until smooth (I use a stand mixer with wisk). Add more beer or garlic to taste and texture it should be easy to dip the bread cubes into
Fill bread bowl with mix and serve cubes around bread, once they get used people should start to rip from the bowl
