I'd rather watch Godzilla Stomp the shit out of Tokyo than see Mark Hamill wave some dumbass flashlight around.

And, yes, I did watch the Star Wars Christmas special. It wasn't much worse than the movie.

I was never super into them as a kid but it's one of those things that is SO HUGE that its cultural impact has gotten it burrowed into my subconscious anyway, and I'd still consider the first two movies among my favorites ever for the simple fact that I'll watch them any time they're on TV. When I was a kid I was capable of liking multiple things to varying degrees, including both The Flintstones and Star Wars.

I'm far from a hardcore fan, in that I never got into the expanded universe stuff or I've never been to a convention, but I really like the movies. Even now. Matter of fact, we're going to Disney the end of May, and Sunday is Star Wars day at MGM. I'm going to meet Billy Dee Williams. And make Colt 45 references to him.

Aliens and the It miniseries were far more influential on my childhood.

it's the death star trench scene that does it for me and it's what lets me live with the ewok element (i was fuck ing nine when it came out, what the shit did I care?) but rewatching Star Wars always leads me to two things - Sir Alec effin Guiness' (more important than any queen) work vs. the the Bantha ****** sandpeople to basically save the universe.

the trench scene presented the danger of rebelling vs. the almighty emperor with Porkins and Biggs - Mark Hamil's best acting short of Batman when Biggs goes down.

basically, I love Star Wars because I was 4 when it came out- it changed everything and while, yes, Raiders was a far better movie, it might not have ever gotten done without star wars (and harrison ford).

you can't truly be sane if you believe that Empire Strikes Back (or the original, they're pretty close) is on par with that piece of shit.

Yes. Star Wars was the single best thing about being a kid in the late '70s and early '80s.

Anyone see how Lucas fucked with the originals again on the new Blu-ray release?

I even like the freakin' Ewoks. Sue me.

But I can't stand friggin' Jar-Jar.

The Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar was a highlight for me last month. Actually toying with the micro Millenium Falcon as we speak.

BabyVox and I are watching Clone Wars together. I insisted that we start from the beginning, which is a foreign concept to him -- he sees his brother pick and choose shows from Netflix and OnDemand, and doesn't get continuity.

He picks up on the funniest things - like how the different armies of clones have different armor. But calls all the clones "Clone Wars" because, well, because he's five, I guess and doesn't understand wars and battles.
