Well we can only play one of them. And neither has anyone as good as Halladay.

Darek Braunecker, Lee's agent, said he has not heard from team about trade.

Good move, I guess. But I felt we should have just held out longer til Toronto couldn't even demand the prospects they're getting from Seattle.

I think this just came down to the Phillies simply not being able to fit both Halladay and Lee in their budget. Being that Amaro couldn't find a taker for Blanton, Lee had to be moved in order for this deal to happen.

I understand it. Do I like it? No, but I get it.

I guess I'm going to be as disappointed as you can be when you get Roy Halladay. Which is still not all that bad.

I agree that this isn't exactly the take-no-prisoners approach.

While this may be Cliff Lee...people do realize that this whole thing started with this "article" from Rosenthal:

Am I the only one who noticed this:

I have no proof that the Phillies are trying to move left-hander Cliff Lee as part of a three- or four-team trade for Blue Jays right-hander Roy Halladay.

But I've got a hunch.

Listen, Rube was with Lee for a while, and it was cool, they had some fun. But it was never serious. But Roy was still out there. He hit it and quit it. You can't tie Ruben down people

I still hoping against hope that Lee isn't traded. Maybe Blanton got them one decent prospect from M's??? Just guessing/hoping.

He was tipped off. It's pretty obvious. This sort of deal does not just happen in a few days. I suspect that Amaro has been trying to find a 3rd team for weeks.

I think we're keeping Blanton and Victorino because we couldn't land Halladay by trading them. You know, Toronto wants good young cheap players. And if they can't get that, they want young cheap players.

From Seattle PI Mariners blog comments

I'm hearing Seattle is receiving Cliff Lee, the Phillies receiving Roy Halladay and the M's sending OF Michael Saunders, P Phillip Aumont and P Brandon Morrow to Toronto along with Philadelphia sending P J.A. Happ and OF Dominic Brown to Toronto. How likely this deal could happen? Sounds great having a legit 1&2 !

I like this deal a lot less.
