Lee is a stud, so it doesn't matter too much, but the Halladay dream is dead

This is exactly right. Unless the info coming from the Phils is misinformation, this is not playing out well. We're going to get Plan B (which is still great, but not as great) and we're going to end up trading a package similar to what Halladay would have cost because the Dodgers (and others) are going to bid up the price on Lee. Remember: Lee does not have a NTC, so the potential pool of buyers is much bigger than for Halladay.

What? If it's Knapp, Carrasco, Donald, Marson, it's not even close to what we have to pay for Halladay.

How do we know it's a similar package? The "biggest" name we're hearing is Knapp. If we're keeping Drabek, Happ, Brown and Taylor, and getting Cliff Lee, how can that be bad? If we give up any of those guys, it's a different story.
Gargano is also reporting that Boston is changing their offer to Toronto.

Gargano doesn't know anything about Boston. He reads the Gordon Edes story, and is fed the info from the Phils that they're looking at Lee, so he immediately assumes Boston is about to get Halladay. Nothing concrete.

But the Dodgers (and perhaps others) are going to make a heavy push and bid up the price.
