Sure, that makes sense. Though the one thing we really need lineup wise is a right-handed bench player who can hit, so you can make an argument that Taylor would be useful.

Do we know whether the Toronto scout was expected to watch today's game, too? If so I would think you'd play those guys if a deal had not been reached.

I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have Donald in the lineup unless something was up. This close to the deadline and wanting to showcase him is paramount right now. I would think a deal is imminent.

Agreed, but I think he has more value than coming off the bench to pinch hit and starting maybe once a week and serving as Ibanez insurance. I'd rather get a Willingham (pre hot streak) kind of guy to fill the role you describe, and I sure as hell don't want to trade Victorino or Howard in the hopes that Taylor won't miss a beat in MLB.

I see the long-term financial benefit, which is why I'd just keep Brown.
