Halladay is on the block, fyi

Postby Trent Steele » Sun Jul 19, 2009 10:25:39

#jays gm jp ricciardi, baseball's busiest man, just told me he pegs chances for a halladay trade at "50-50.''

I'm figuring he keeps saying 50/50 because if Rube includes Drabek it's on, otherwise it's off.

In other news, Andy Reid just said that he needs to put his players in a better position to win this year.

I view that comment as a big positive, considering some were saying the odds of a deal were 20% or so about a week ago

Agreed. At this point, JP makes no public statements without purpose. My guess is he is downplaying the odds for negotiating purposes, meaning it is very likely he thinks a deal will get done. If it was really 50/50, he would have said it was unlikely something will get done, we're happy to keep Roy, don't want to trade him, etc.

It's locked up.

LoL. There's 12 days till the trade deadline. Ed Wade's retarded cousin needs to calm down.

The chances this report is accurate are about 50-50.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

he also said he needed to be moved next week because if riccardi trades halladay, he's going to trade the rest of them after that (rios, scutaro, rolen, etc)

That makes no sense.

If the Phillies think they can win another world series this year as constituted hopefully last night's pitching matchup (Johnson vs Blanton) will wake them up a little, as their only chance in the game was a rain out.

Rumors and rumblings: The Blue Jays continue to shop right-hander Roy Halladay, and indications are that the Phillies are not as hot on him as has been reported, and that the Angels may be the frontrunners. GM J.P. Ricciardi is also willing to trade Halladay inside the division, which means the Red Sox will be in the hunt, and the Yankees are expected to be, too, despite indications to the contrary. The White Sox and Dodgers might be dark-horse contenders, as well as the Rangers, despite owner Tom Hicks’ financial problems. …

Perrotto, along with Sheehan in his growing irrationality, has come to symbolize everything wrong with BP.

Really? I've never had a problem with Perrotto.

And if he was right here, I wouldn't be shocked.

It's not that he's awful. It's just that he doesn't add much, IMO; he does what someone like Paul Hagen or Salisbury does, but he's not even as good.

Gillick is in Toronto today, so it doesn't make any sense that we would have lost interest.
