I just saw some guy driving around in a beat to hell Chevy Cobalt wearing a brand-new (with new stadium patch) Yankee jersey.

His seat covers had hula print. And he was wearing a headband.

I rest my case.

It's hilarious because his minor league salary was $67,000. In addition to being a pretty good salary for most americans, it's also a helluva lot more than most minor leaguers make
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Okay it's time. I just spent an hour getting roasted by a bunch of my idiot Yankee fan friends and we need to play this game before I punch one of them. Tired of hearing about their rings and pinstripes and arrogance. Let's prove it on the field.

they'd love to think so. it's just amazing how time and time again that's all you hear about.

FOUR players who will suit up for NY played for them in 2000. FOUR. Jeter Posada Mariano and Pettite.

I saw Christine Lavin at the Steel city coffeehouse tonight. For those who don't want to listen to the song below (though you should), here's the story:

She was commissioned by the Lincoln Center to write a song about baseball for a special show. She came up with the idea to interview the oldest crackerjack vendor at Yankee Stadium, write a song about him, and then bring him on stage at the show. She contacted the Yankees to try to arrange this and spent three days being bumped form person to person until she finally ended up speaking to a lawyer who informed her "she had no idea of the legal ramifications of what she was asking. The Yankees are a trademark, Crackerjacks are a trademark, and even if we should approve of this idea, which we're not saying we will, there's no way we can clear this by you show in nine months."

Anyway, after being shot down she wrote this song instead: Legal Ramifications of a Crackerjack Vendor At Yankee Stadium. this version ends (sort of)with the death of George Steinbrenner. Due to recent events she now performs it with Derek Jeter choking on a yo-yo, which is just as satisfying.

Two posts in like four years. Jeez, am I the only one who still hates the Yankees?

Anyway, obnoxious Yankees announce John Sterling had his house burn down, house buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrnnnnn down along with hundreds of others. Somehow gave me pleasure that this symbol of Yankees exceptionalism had to live in New Jersey.

in honor of my late father, who for 70+ years followed the yankees as closely as any of their "fans" just to root against them as full-heartedly as he rooted for his beloved once-philly a's, i will do my best to help keep this thread alive all season!

A source told Teri Thompson, Bill Madden and Michael O'Keefe of the New York Daily News that Alex Rodriguez is "noticeably thinner and 'massless' than in previous years."
Rodriguez will turn 40 in the middle of the season and has had past hip issues, so taking off some weight is probably wise. Slated for the designated hitter role in 2015, A-Rod remains a poor bet health-wise and is coming off a year-long suspension, so his appeal in fantasy leagues is limited. The Daily News report also stated that Rodriguez offered to meet face-to-face with Yankees executives in order to apologize for his role in the Biogenesis scandal, but the club declined the invite.

And he's signed for 3 more years at over $20 million a year. Yuckkkk

It's a bit harder to hate the Yankees with Steinbrenner dead and the team not really being all that relevant and not even spending tons of money signing over the hill free agents.

No playoffs the last two years and they're probably going to finish 3rd or 4th again this year. They're less punchable than the Giants and Cardinals IMO

Yankees working to void milestone bonuses for Alex Rodriguez as he closes in on Willie Mays on home run list.

He's owed $6 million dollars for each person he passes on the all-time list.
