Stark gives Phillies Buller the Cy Yuck, bunch of hilarious stats including this one:

JOE DIMAGGIO’S CAREER: .325/.398/.579
HITTERS VS. THIS BULLPEN: .320/.395/.563
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

If the Phils have to play the Dodgers in a short series, I think to make the games as realistic as possible, Dodgers staff should start removing cutouts after the 6th inning.

Mets loss clinches 3rd place for the Phils. Yay.

seems like a lot riding on howard figuring stuff out and being decent/not hurt at the mlb level.

Nola, Wheeler, FA, Howard, Eflin is not bad.

think you have to bring DiDi back. no idea what you do with JT at this point.

wish we could dump segura and upgrade somehow.

then get about 5 relievers and we should be good.

Yeh, this. The only way to really fix this in the short term is to pay the tax. Invest in the minors at the same time and make better evaluations with big league FAs and we can be really competitive until the youngsters start to show up.

But the uber rich hate paying taxes, you know. I really have doubts he'll do it for more than a year or two and it will take longer than that.

Pay the tax. Unless they go crazy it's only for one year.

No way I bring Didi back unless you can move Segura

Who will play 2B? No way I put Jetpax out there to watch 500 ABs disappear into nothing. I'd be ok with signing a 2B cheaper than Segura though, assuming you can move segura.

So we're still alive, but we need 3 games to go our way tomorrow. That would normally be a 1/8 chance but we are playing the Rays and I'm not sure the Pads will be that motivated or use their best players. At least the Brewers are playing the Cards and the Cards have reason to win. Still I would put our chances of the 3 games going our way at maybe 1/12. That would give us about a 40% against the Rays, 40% for the Pads against the Giants, and 55% for the Cards against the Brewers. I'm obviously making those numbers up based on feeling.

Granted I haven't watched much of the games this week but with the week we have had, it amazes me that we can still get in... crazy.. at least we have Nola pitching, the Pads are significantly better than the Giants and the Cards/Brewers is a toss up... all for the right to play in LA

There was excitement a month ago, when it was clicking on all cylinders. Ultimately I think the densely packed season made it a murderous pursuit and the journey seemed like it would be rough. Now that they've arrived at the steps of Mordor, I wanna burn down with them.

So how big is a soccer field anyway? this pic is allegedly from when they were trying to fit a world cup soccer field into the vet. accompanying note (see the ebay link for that) indicates that it wasn't really going to work. I would've assumed that it's the same size as a football field and they could've just used the football layout?

Soccer fields can vary in size, there is no absolute standard, but a soccer field is generally closer to a CFL field in size than an NFL one. Of course the CFL, besides being 110 yard long not 100, has 25 yard end zones instead of 10 yard ones and is wider than an NFL field by about 12 yards.

Never really thought about it before but how the fuck do you play soccer on Astroturf, as the Atoms and Fury did? I mean you can but it must be hard as hell to control any kind of pass.
What did the Atoms/Fury do when they played at the Vet?

OMG the 1973 Atoms highlight video narrated by John Fascenda!

One of the things that really worked out for Philly is being effectively home to NFL films, because stuff like this which got ignored elsewhere got documented here.

We're a bit worse than 6-1 to make the playoffs, per the parlay I just placed
