Simmons max contract will now start at 28% of the salary cap instead of 25% because he was given designated rookie extension language in his deal. If the cap remains flat for 2020-2021, that means he made an additional $19 million total on his new 5-year deal. A flat cap at a 25% max would have been a 5-year $158 million deal. A flat cap at a 28% max will be a 5-year $177 million deal.
