Signed 2017 28th round pick Billy Sullivan, who was at U of Delaware. Had TJ surgery last year after a good freshman year. Link to a recent feature on him.

Hey! A Chanticleer sighting.

Surprised he didn't sign with the Cubs.
And he had a no hitter season.

Signed Georgia Tech righty reliever Jonathan Hughes, who was the Orioles' 2nd-rd pick in 2015 but didn't sign

Great article in the Athletic today about the UDFA signings. Insight into why each of them chose the Phillies. Even Girardi was involved in recruiting several of them.

fangraphs updated their prospect lists. abel #3, martin #13 and radcliffe #41. enjoyed this blurb from martin's scouting report:

Martin was one of the more physically gifted college players in the draft but he also has one of its worst approaches. He's less discerning than Mike Richards in an Old City bar at 1:45 a.m. and swings at stuff well out of the strike zone.

But man if they can clean up the approach a little bit....that pick is really going to pay off I think.

Good pick/process, regardless of result. Obviously, hope it works out.

that pick is a scouty/coaches call. good chance he flamed out as a freshman and he's anthony hewitt 2.0. at least they didn't reach for him. really hope someone knows something and it becomes the steal of the draft.

I mean even with the Ks, Casey Martin had a career college OPS of .931, played SS, went 24 for 27 on steal attempts and did it in the SEC. Scored 124 runs in 148 games.

Yep. I think probable worst case is he's a career backup journeyman. At least that's how I'm reading the stats and writeups. Ceiling maybe Rollins lite. Good third round choice if this is the case.

Aside: All pitchers in the post draft 20k free for all. Purposeful? Coincidence?

Keep thinking Uggla on him. More speed, less HR power....lots of swing and miss, defense that'll make you cringe.

I was thinking Kingery
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

Harold Reynolds compared Casey Martin to a mix of Ernie Banks and Derek Jeter
