Which is some complete bullshit, IMO. Reason is arbitrary and if we're joining AL & NL into divisions the AL have a massive roster construction advantage.

I am moreso just saying in a sport where 1 game of 162 can separate you making the playoffs or not, it's pretty shitty to immediately force a rule on half of the teams while the other half have made roster decisions based on that rule for years.

I agree on the latter point, and I am not sure what the Phillies would have done differently, but given all of the micro-decisions that baseball has been boiled down to, it's not unreasonable to think the experience / "advance notice" the AL has is worth something.

I really wish the NL would retain a no DH structure but I have accepted the ship has sailed. If they are going to combine teams into a single "MLB" this year for a short season it makes no sense to try to track two sets of rules. And going forward a geographic realignment with expansion seems like an inevitable idea, to cut down on travel costs and increase the number of games for each team in its own time zone.

Essentially every level of organized ball employs the DH so the NL is now a real outlier. I don't like it but it is what it is.

If any Phillie was made for full-time DH, it's Bruce, IMO. But yes, all those other scenarios fit, as well

So how many tests do we need to safely play during a pandemic? And not just tests for players. Baseball requires a massive workforce besides the players; coaches, clubhouse staff, security, grounds crews, umpires, gameday stadium staff, TV & media...we need to protect everyone.

We need to consider what level of risk we're willing to assume. 80% of cases are considered mild, but what if a player, a staff member, an auxiliary worker, or a family member gets a case that's in the 20% and they develop severe symptoms or chronic issues? 1 feels like too many?

There are a number of players & staff who have pre-existing conditions that they are aware of (and likely more who aren't yet). We need a plan that seriously considers the increased health concerns of any players, staff or workers who are at higher risk.
