Well, ACTUALLY, Atlanta is further west than Detroit.
Wow mind blown.
Finding out Reno is more west than LA a couple weeks ago blew my mind
This is how I felt when I realized parts of PA were more South than parts of NC.
Are we talking culturally here, or is there some weird geographical quirk at play?

Wow - stuff like this blows my mind. I knew the country leaned in that way but didn't realize how dramatic it was as you get that far South.

There is a report that MiLB season is cancelled citing multiple agents as the sources. I can find nothing of the sort. Three major agencies say they have not received any messaging saying MiLB season is cancelled. MLB and MiLB also both say no decision has been made. From what I've been told, no decision will be made on MiLB season for a while as first priority for MLB is figuring out when MLB season can be played. MiLB decision comes after that. I have heard plenty of speculation that there will be no MiLB season. I had multiple conversations today where agents and other said they wouldn't be surprised if there was just complex play. We at BA have written about the many hurdles that stand between now and an MiLB season. But I can't find anyone who would be involved in those decisions who has heard of "a decision" to cancel the minors.

Contrary to reports, Major League Baseball has not canceled the Minor League Baseball season, according to a league spokesman.

That was a true/false question on today's Zoom virtual happy hour pub trivia!! I got it right only because I assumed it was a trick question lol.

Besides the florida teams the other teams are all pretty fun to play especially if everyone gets to play in their home parks.

Do kids still do this? I used to love filling the bats with the wet newspaper and using like a half a roll off electric tape for grip and the top of the bat. Used to crush tennis balls with those bats

i wonder if that would help or hinder? At first blush, i would say no, since it seems like there's a big reliance on the elasticity of the bat for maximum 'power'. but, then again, cork is rather flexible, and would add some mass. So I'm not really sure. sounds like a job for mythbusters if i had any remaining respect for them.

An airplane cannot take off from a runway which is moving backwards (like a treadmill) at a speed equal to its normal ground speed during takeoff.
BUSTED
First some small-scale tests were performed with a model airplane on a treadmill and the plane was able to take off. For the large-scale test, the MythBusters used a 400 pound ultralight aircraft with a 2000 foot tarp under it. The tarp was pulled backwards to simulate a moving runway. The ultralight pilot had no trouble taking off. This is because the thrust of the airplane engines acts on the air, not on the ground.
