Saying the Capitals fans didn't expect them to win it all isn't the same as saying the Flyers will become the Capitals. NHL isn't the NBA where 5 teams can win it all, teams fluke themselves to the finals often just like the Flyers did in 2010.

Last year everyone thought Vegas was going to be one of the worst teams of all time and they almost won the cup, and nobody would have predicted a Caps-Knights finals probably even when the playoffs started. Most people on here wanted to see the Capitals in the playoffs because they would choke again.

In the NHL you get hot in the playoffs and you can make a run, not saying the Flyers will do it with this group but I also don't think blowing it up completely will accomplish anything at this point. Hextall has made the decisions to go down this path and there isn't really anything they can do about it at this point. He isn't the type of GM that is going to trade Voracek, Giroux, Simmonds and go with all young guys, and although firing the coach might help a little bit I am not sure there is an instant replacement out there that will make them that much better.

As far as going back to last year for the Eagles argument, I forgot about the Colts Goal line stand in addition to the Falcons stand this year when arguing the Eagles defense isn't historically bad in clutch situations. If you agree with 702 that the Eagles have a historically bad clutch defense then it doesn't matter what stats I throw out there.

This is a very fair point but our goalies are not getting much help either. Little to no commitment whatsoever to team defense. Somebody brought it up pages ago but it really appears (sometimes) as though they are playing to get Hakstol fired.

What coaches are out there that would interest people to bring in?

Dave Tippett is out there. I think that’d be an immediate upgrade.

Same. It's fucking sad. Used to go to games constantly. Really hope the Phillies don't tread down that path.
