What’s brutal is not the controversy itself or what Colangelo might have done, but the effect on the franchise and team going forward. In this day and age nothing that happens on social media surprises me whether this was Colangelo’s doing, the work of an enemy or anything in between. I’m just sick to my stomach about the Sixers having to make major FO changes so close to the offseason we’ve all been waiting for for years.

All true. But on the other hand if he's guilty, he's nuts. Better to root it out now than have him make more huge decisions

Agree with Brantt's oddsmaking. I was starting to think this was so insane that it could in fact be a set up but some of the accounts began before he was GM and it was obviously someone in the building since the other accounts went dark when Detrick fact checked

A month is a long time. This isn't like Griffin getting let go a few days before free agency.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

Brown's getting a really raw deal out of all this. That guy should be celebrated with a 3-hour press conference and should be allowed to show up in a t-shirt and shorts, instead he gets caught up in this as part of a cover-up to try and minimize the Colangelo story

Some people are saying it was his son. Is that much better for the end result for Colangelo?

Hell just have brown run the team for a few months and hire a GM in August.

Not really. And it runs counter to his "no idea of motive or origin" statement.

He's outta here today.

Would the league let the Sixers hire Griffin before or during the Finals? That would be a massive sideshow. Would the Sixers care at this point?

Just see if there were any tweets made while games were going on he was playing in.

Exactly.

The leaking of the medical stuff does Colangelo in no matter what IMO.

Brantt wrote:To me, I see only 3 possibilities on the accounts.

1. Colangelo

2. Someone extremely close to Colangelo

3. Someone setting up Colangelo

I'd rank the probabilities of each as 95%, 4%, 1% respectively.

Agree with the percentages. I suppose someone could have hacked him for the last two years. Used the information he/she attained to subtly tweet for 2 years up until this moment. The one part that kind of nags at me is retweeting about his son. That seems like a frame job. Would he really be that stupid? Maybe.

But a few of the accounts went dark after Colangelo was notified of two. I actually loathe Detrick but that was a boss move

Second time this has happened to him. The Sixers leaked Brown was getting a contract extension the day Jerry Colangelo was introduced back on December 8, 2015. It was officially announced three days later.

Marc Eversley or Ned Cohen would be the likely internal candidates.

Griffin has got to be the guy given his reputation and relationship with Lebron.

Teams hire GMs during the playoffs all the time.

But this would play as a Lebron overture. Not the end of the world, but not what the league wants people talking about during Lebron's finals
