The golf thread - A tradition like many others

One thing I'm keeping my eye on is the current Presidents Cup standings. Right now the Top 8 are Koepka, DJ, JT, Schauffele, Kuchar, Dechambele, Cantlay and Woodland. Tiger gets 4 Captains Choices and would have to pick among the following: himself (12th), Fowler (10th), Finau (9th), Mickelson (14th), Reed (17th), Speith (29th).

I'd think Finau, Woods, and Fowler are no-brainer picks. Speith just isn't good right now, so he'd be out for me. Mickelson one more time?

How often do captains play as well?

I am not sure Tiger is a no brainer. It's one thing if you auto qualify, it's another if you have to pick yourself.

Finau/Fowler are locks. Webb should be in. And then I think he picks Phil if Phil wants to play. Phil captains the next squad.

Tiger in last place of all the golfers on the course. Doesn't look right at all.

Presidents Cup automatic qualifiers for the US are:

Koepka
DJ
JT
Schaufele
Kuchar
Webb Simpson
Patrick Cantlay
Dechambeau

Tiger to make 4 captains picks out of Finau, Fowler, woodland, Reed, himself, Phil, Speith, others

Would Tiger leave himself out, and go w Finau, Rickie, Reed, and Jordan?
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

He should leave himself out, you shouldn't make yourself a playing captain unless you qualify imo.

Oh, I don't disagree. Doesn't mean it's gonna happen, though

If Tiger were healthy I'd say there's a good argument for him over any of the other non-qualifiers, but he's not healthy. There's a great ratings argument for him in any case.

So Australia is 12 hours in front of Eastern time I believe, and looks like the events are starting 10:30 AM Thursday and 11:30 Friday, so I am not sure how ratings are going to be with or without Tiger.

I like to watch it but I won't stay up until 1 in the morning for it to start. I'm assuming Golf Channel has it live and then NBC has the replay.

I like it in general but think they could tweak it a bit.

Problem is that like, even though its for $15 million, that does not really matter to these dudes. Drama is on the Korn Ferry Tour this time of year.
