The golf thread - A tradition like many others

Day was really tough and Fowler caught a bad break on 11 (I think 11). Big stuff on 15, 16, 17 to come through though. Dude should have won it in 2016 when he absolutely bombed that drive on 17 just for it to end unfairly in the water.

Allegedly starting at 8:00 AM pacific. Phil (16)with a 3-stroke lead over Stallings (F) and Casey (15).

Update: Phil on the green at 18 in 3 with a 3 stroke lead...8 feet away. Should win easily, as Casey has a tough chip from the fringe for Eagle (maybe 30 feet away with a bad lie).

Phil wins!!

Not many 48 year olds win on the young guy circuit.

Phil will get his old guy card in just TWO years.

Steve Stricker. First person to serve in role without a major on his resume.

Its been 11 years since TIger won a major

Rory is sneaking up on 30 THIS MAY, and only has a handful of majors. I noticed that the bulk that he put on after his first set of major wins is now gone. Golf requires a delicate balance, you can't go messing with it too much.

There are so many superior golfers that Tiger will more than likely not even get his 46-50 yo major win. Jack got his last major at 46. Tiger is 43, Phils is 48. And since I just googled Tiger's age, Elin's age popped up, she is 39.

4 majors in seven years would be something the old Tiger could do. By the year, Jack's record gets safer. 18 wins and 18+ second places. For a time, Jack was always in the top two and threatening.

That is interesting, Tiger was born in 75. Six years to my 50th reunion. I am ready now, let's do it.

My next six years will be like TIger's. Traveling to the sand and just hanging out. Different sand unless Tiger goes WAY left at Pebble Beach.

Tiger is 138 in stokes gained Off-the-tee and #2 in strokes gained approach and #82 in strokes gained putting. When he was at his best, he was incredible with his approach shots and proximity to the hole. If he gets his putter hot, he's going to have a great season.

Not a big deal if he plays at Sawgrass.

Jack Nicklaus

During a span of more than 25 years, he won a record 18 major championships while producing 19 second-place and 9 third-place finishes.

46 out of 100 major tournaments top three. 37 out of 100 top two over 25 years.

No one has come close to that long term domination of any sport.

Jack is also a multi sport athlete playing football in HS, and basketball at Ohio state.

He's right on the cut line right now, will depend how he plays these next 9 holes.
