So were TMac and Kruk during a game earlier this season. Couldn’t believe my ears.

He's right on the bubble looking at the baseball reference metrics, but I think he's a man beyond just the numbers. He was pure dominance and a consummate professional. Put him in.

I was at the game on September 12, 2013. where the Phillies staked him to a 7-1 lead. Never tried harder to will anyone to make it through one more inning and get a win, but it didn't work, as they had to remove with one out in the fifth in a game they went on to win 10-5. so glad he got one more start where he pitched reasonably well and picked up one more win before thing totally fell apart.

Unlike some fans, of course, he handled the rough times with total class.

What the hell were those dudes doing? Why didn't they try to help? Instead they just filmed videos on their phones and commentated. Shit heads.

That video made me want to throw up.

I was busy yesterday with local election in my town - and I quickly checked at night the ESPN App to see the Sixer's score - and saw the news... my heart fell in to my stomach.

Reading all these amazing stories about what a solid fun loving guy ... Schilling and Hamels and Cliff and a few others over the years were really exciting to see pitch, but something with Doc was different. It was like watching a true master. Other than Lefty, I don't think I've ever experienced that sensation for a Phillis pitcher in my lifetime - quite at the level and sustained and consistent.

Far too young, heartbreaking for his wife and children. Loved the story about the reporters kid on phone after no-no and love the story about the helicopter club before games at the stadiums...

RIP ...

2:1 winning percentage for career. I hope that's enough to make HOF.

I hope he goes right in to the ring of honor for Phils next season.

RIP...

Well, I mean of course he was "showboating." It's not a commuter plane, it's something you take out to see what it, and you, can do. It's like they're trying to put it in the same class as taking a speedboat out at night, drunk, and I don't think it is, based on current evidence.

It wouldn't have been safe for them to try to attempt to save anyone there, and I believe the cabin was under water so without diving equipment they are probably just putting themselves in danger if they tried to get in the water.

i was there! my favorite non no-hitter Doc game.

doesn't really seem like he's 'hot dogging' it in that video. still, i'll bet inexperience is the root cause of everything. sad.

and regardless of the video people's attitude, there was nothing they could do, practically. im not going to climb around on a plane wreckage unless i hear someone screaming or something.

Friend of mine snapped this photo of Roy Halladay some years ago and I thought it was beautiful enough to share:

It was completely demolished. Nobody is surviving there especially given the time that probably elapsed before they even made it to the wreck

John Boruk‏ @johnborukNBCS
Flyers will have a moment of silence before tomorrow's game against the Blackhawks in remembrance of @RoyHalladay

I've always loved the relationship between the four Philly teams (plus the Union...ha) but this is really nice of the Flyers.

I wouldn't call it showboating, the aircraft is new and meant to be flown at low altitudes. Check out the website. This thing is pretty cool and you can drive them too.

It does appear to be a dangerous toy though and can see it getting banned by the FAA.

Some dickwad host on Boston sports radio named Michael Felger went off on how Halladay deserved the die for flying a plane. What a fucking tool.
