Yes I became interested when I thought Mantle must hold it but that Beltran must be close, was surprised to learn he is actually ahead of Mantle on the count (12 to 10).

Mantle played in the era where pitchers started and finished games on the reg, him having 10 is impressive

Huh, I hadn't thought of that point: it's a good one.

I guess that does explain why it seems to have been done a lot more frequently in the last 30 or so years than the many years prior to it.

I also agree with your comment regarding the guess work involved in getting this right. One is much more obvious than the other, but honestly the more obvious one I always forget was a SH.

Is Jeltz the only player to do it in a game he didn't start?

Good guess... but he did it 11 times.

Hint: the record is 14.

Another good guess... but nope. He only did it four times.

Ken Caminiti did it 10 times. Not a record, but speaking of guys you forget about. He's been gone a long time already now.

haha, google's third result was an article that starts like this:

Not Mickey Mantle. Not Eddie Murray or Chipper Jones, either. Nope. The men who are tied for the most games in MLB history with home runs from each side of the plate are

Berkman definitely would have been my first guess. Then Chipper.

Now I am going to cheat.

Chipper was going to be my next guess. Bernie Williams? Doubt he did it 14 times though.
