Golf - The Future is Now

Lexi Thompson was up 2 at the LPGA major. Someone emailed in and said yesterday she marked her ball for a one foot putt and replaced it an inch closer. Rules committee debated for two hours and gave her 4 stroke penalty on 13 today. Two for the placement and then two for signing an incorrect score card. She battled back but lost in a playoff.

Video of them telling her in this link, as she walks between holes. Unbelievable. She did move the ball maybe an inch but didn't appear to be closer to the hole, on what was a tap-in anyway.

In addition to eliminating the practice of having viewers call in and report penalties, they need to change the rule about signing an incorrect scorecard. At the time she signed her scorecard the penalty hadn't been assessed, so the scorecard wasn't incorrect. She was penalized two extra strokes because the rules officials didn't notice the original penalty when it happened.

We can fix this (fans).

Next LPGA major tournament (they deserve the hit) we get a bank of about 100 fans to call and email the officials that every time a ball is replaced it's been moved. Because, you see, it has. There is no such thing as being in the exact same position. Drive them crazy checking every mark and re-mark of every player on TV. They'll change the stupid f-ing rule.

i read that when you hear something like that happen it is usually an off duty rules official for the tour.

Looks like DJ is going to play. I've been watching golf channel which has just been showing him at the range and he looks decent. Doesn't look to be really going after anything yet, though.

i mean it's just two bad holes. friday/saturday were kinda tough days last year. a 9 after shooting your 3rd into the green is inexcusable.
