Exactly. Pisses me off that guys who do this for a living make a f(*#(ing amateur mistake like that- it's know as "getting too close to the play". He was staring at the bag listening for the ball, which of course he never heard because of the barehanded catch.
Not much gets me more aggravated than avoidable mistakes. This is worse than either of Danley's gaffes, because they were just stupid calls. This was a veteran ump just not knowing where to go- or rather just no going where he SHOULD go- to get the proper perspective.
