Rob Neyer sounds like a guy who'd get off on doing other guys.

So with all the talk coming into this series about how Pat and Jimmy were the tenured players with this organization, it is Pat and Jimmy who have disappeared during the first two games.

Rob Neyer donated money to Dennis Kucinich. He worked, earned money, and decided to give it to Dennis Kucinich. Dennis Kucinich.

You must have missed Bruntlett's home run off of Cy Price.

I did appreciate Gammons and Berman saying they did not get the feeling that now all the sudden the Rays had this swing of momentum. At least those knobs understand it is one game at a time.

Anyways, we are screwed. Rays have all the momentum.

Phillies are 4-0 at home during postseason play. They get 3 straight games at home. There is a very good chance the are going to win two. Hopefully all three.

this game changes nothing. this game means the Rays won the game they were most reasonably expected to win. this means they have a chance to win the series. they were at home with their ace and an opposing pitcher who doesn't pitch his best on the road. good for them. hope they're savoring the victory because it's the only one they're getting.
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

i had a dream last night that the phillies tied the game, went ahead, and lidge blew a save. somehow the game ended up rays 14 phillies 8 on a walkoff something by cliff floyd. i was able to tell myself throughout the night that it was only a dream, but it was horrifying listening to mccarver and buck tell me over and over again how lidge didn't blow a save all year. i was relieved to wake up and know that they still lost the normal way.
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

That darned 6-run home run. Buck will be talking about that for weeks.

My affection for players doesn't correlate directly to quality. Regardless, Myers was pretty good last night.

It's funny how everyone in the office talked about Wednesday's win for a half hour yesterday. Today, no one is even mentioning the game.

So I'm trying to collect what I missed in my sickly sleeping stupor last night. What I've figured out is:

1. The Rays are the greatest ever.
2. The Rays are the underdog(?)
3. The Phillies filled the bases with no outs every inning and didn't score.
4. Myers let up a hundred runs
5. The Phillies are the worst team to ever make it to the World Series and should be ashamed of itself.
6. Bud Selig is considering cutting the entire franchise out of baseball history because it's such an embarassment to the Dodgers and the Rays.

I translate this to: Shields was extremely human, allowed lots of base runners, and the Phillies didn't play "small ball". Oh, and my personal thought that I never even expected to win two in their park, and still consider the game 1 victory a big deal.

Well, a half hour straight with everyone from the office, then intermittent conversations throughout the day.

There's only so much nice old librarians can say about baseball.

8. Kerwin Danley is still suffering effects from his July beaning, and perhaps needs another knock on the head to set him right.
