I mean it sounds great except for the fact that you'd have to convince the owners to pay More for the d league and having to deal with the uncertainty of drafting high schoolers again.

I don't think the players really want high schools being eligible anyway. At least they don't care very much. That's roster spots that can go to vets.

treating it more like a true minor league would increase the importance of those games and likely increase the profit margin on them, too. minor league baseball is lucrative if done right, for example.

the NBA expands its footprint into smaller, previously untapped markets and the NBAPA increases its reach and impact, helping out the lower guys on the totem pole by creating new slots for them as D League vets that would be paid more than under the current system, for example.

this all seems win-win-win to me for teams, players and fans.

I mean I understand that's the argument, not sure if the projections actually work out that way. The business models for the nba and mlb have evolved very differently, with baseball relying on gate receipts and regional tv deals while the nba is more focused on national and international broadcast money.

Not sure if the owners have the desire to figure out how to make minor league basketball work. Especially when they already have a successful partner in the ncaa. May take the ncaa getting destroyed to change that.
