I don't know how that works. In Michigan nobody registers with a party, we have open primaries. But MI is listed in the tweet. Maybe they look at the location by county or whatever.

I'm pretty sure they break it down by voting precinct and know how the votes tend to play out based on prior elections. So it's imperfect, but the best you can do in a secret ballot system.
