Still somewhat a victory if they're typical Republican voters.Bucky wrote:interesting, HRC's campaign seems to be 'working' somewhat. just perused a FB threat where a bunch of former trump voters can now no longer support him. They're going over to the stoner and not HRC, but I guess that's still better.

I haven't been following this race except for the polling. Has Strickland done something to shit the bed? I know that Portman had a ton more money, and I'm sure that the big-$$$ donors have been focusing on the Ohio Senate race, but this is the type of margin that you only see in mid-term elections absent some big gaffe/scandal.

Portman pounded him early on the job losses while he was governor. The guy was a one term gov during the recession, so of course that looks awful. There wasn't any standout gaffe, and the race has just steadily drifted away from Strickland over the past year. I'm not sure why the Democrats didn't invest in the race early on, as there's plenty to define Portman with as well. They have the money. Ayotte has had more spent against her than Hassan, and Toomey/McGinty is near parity.
Portman's campaign has also built a massive voter contact machine, apparently over 4 million direct contacts. If Trump narrowly wins Ohio, it'll be Portman's competence dragging his sorry ass over the line.

Early and non stop. Tons of negative ads from what I have read. Honorable stuff.
