Donald fails the sniff test (politics)

interesting, HRC's campaign seems to be 'working' somewhat. just perused a FB threat where a bunch of former trump voters can now no longer support him. They're going over to the stoner and not HRC, but I guess that's still better.

Still somewhat a victory if they're typical Republican voters.

Grain of salt and all that, but kind of interesting showing the real matchups vs. hypothetical ones

DNC conspired to keep Bernie off of that chart.

Amazing to me that Clinton wouldn't pummel that evil weasel piece of shit Pence in a head to head.

People don't realize what a social conservative nutbag he is. Those numbers would be different if people knew what he's actually stood for over the years. That comparison is basically "generic conservative Republican" versus HRC.

he's basically a slightly less smug version of Ted Cruz, if he had more exposure he'd be hated too

I think this is a good reminder that Donald Trump doesn't represent an aberration in the Republican party, he represents their values. I know azrider doesn't like it when people call racist people racist, but damn, the GOP is a racist ass group of people.

New Monmouth poll has Clinton up 2 in Ohio, and Portman up 15. Portman has run the race of the cycle, incredible.

I haven't been following this race except for the polling. Has Strickland done something to shit the bed? I know that Portman had a ton more money, and I'm sure that the big-$$$ donors have been focusing on the Ohio Senate race, but this is the type of margin that you only see in mid-term elections absent some big gaffe/scandal.

Portman pounded him early on the job losses while he was governor. The guy was a one term gov during the recession, so of course that looks awful. There wasn't any standout gaffe, and the race has just steadily drifted away from Strickland over the past year. I'm not sure why the Democrats didn't invest in the race early on, as there's plenty to define Portman with as well. They have the money. Ayotte has had more spent against her than Hassan, and Toomey/McGinty is near parity.

Portman's campaign has also built a massive voter contact machine, apparently over 4 million direct contacts. If Trump narrowly wins Ohio, it'll be Portman's competence dragging his sorry ass over the line.

the national dem party has pretty much abandoned him, theyve come to the conclusion it's not winnable and stopped sending him oodles of money so that's probably helped to widen the lead

Early and non stop. Tons of negative ads from what I have read. Honorable stuff.

Both parties have stopped with the outside spending though.

Everyone runs negative ads. Winning by a lot in a swing state vs. a known figure by running a focused, disciplined campaign in every aspect of the race seems pretty good to me.
