The problem for Trump with expressing regret generally is he's opened it up for the media to go through each of his "regrettable" statements one by one, thereby revisiting each and every one. "Do you regret calling Latins rapists," "Do you regret your stance on Muslims," "Do you regret calling women pigs," "Do you regret criticizing a Gold Star family," and on and on and on. It's what the conservatives have done to Hillary for 2 decades and do you really think Trump will respond to the repeated questioning over the next 2 1/2 months in a calm, contrite manner? Good luck with that!

#$!&@, very few in the media is willing to point out the absolutely #$!&@ up things that Breitbart has published under Bannon's leadership. They're calling him a "firebrand" instead of outright calling him a racist conspiracy-monger.

he might start up a TV outlet that they'll be interviewing for in 6 months

I can't imagine that many of them would actually want to work for this guy.

This shit kills me. How in the hell can an average American say that life is WORSE for them than it was 50 years ago? (And let's ignore for now the logical fallacy that 45% of Americans between ages 30-49 weren't even alive 50 years ago and rely on hearsay and television/movies to know what life was like in the mid-60s. And hey--the 54% of people aged 50-64 who thought life was better... no shit, you were a child.)

Yes, there are pockets of society that are worse off, especially in the Rust Belt. But on average we have improved access to better medicine, far superior technology, endless entertainment, etc. Yet 47% surveyed say life is worse than it was 50 years ago.

Fucking idiots.

What's really scaring people (mostly non-college older whites) is globalization because they feel like they're being left behind. If you're a 50-year old man with only a high school diploma living in Ohio, it can be terrifying to constantly hear that you need a college degree to get a good job, that you need to learn how to use a computer, etc.

Maddow had a segment on last night's program showing how Trump's doctor has a trumped-up (no pun intended) resume and is nowhere near as accomplished as he claims.
"The letters after the Trump doctor's name — there's his name. It says, M.D. for medical doctor and then it says, FACG, which stands for fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology," Maddow said.

"So we called them, and they said, 'yeah, that's right.' They said, quote, 'Dr. Bornstein joined the ACG in 1981. He was a fellow. When his membership lapsed in 1995.' He hasn't been affiliated with the ACG since that year. Given that, we asked if that means he should stop identifying himself the way he does, putting FACG after his name. They told us this: 'People who are no longer members of the organization would be expected to stop using FACG or any other reference to membership in the organization as they are no longer members.'
"He told us, quote, 'FACG is a title they sell for a fee. In reality, it has no value,'" Maddow said. "In response to the inevitable follow-up question, Donald Trump's doctor told us that he will keep using this valueless title because it's part of his resume. And then he sent us a copy of this has framed certificate from back in the day a couple of decades ago when he was still paying his dues."

Trump's medical records and overall health have only come back into focus after his attacks on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's lack of stamina and poor health.

The Trump campaign has not issued a statement in response to Maddow's report.

Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) said on Wednesday that her comment calling Hillary Clinton a "lying killer" was just a "mispronunciation" of the Democratic nominee's name.

“I was trying to say Hillary Clinton,” Brewer told Buzzfeed News. “It was a stumble of the tongue.”

“Good grief,” she added.

On Tuesday, Brewer called Clinton a "lying killer" during a radio interview on Phoenix radio station KTAR.

"People want a fighter. They’re tired of the lying killer, uh Hillary Clinton and Bill Clintons of the world," she said while arguing that Democrats cannot win Arizona, according to a clip highlighted by Mediaite.

Jon Favreau @jonfavs
Trump replaced his unregistered Russian lobbyist campaign chief with the owner of a racist hate site. There is no bigger story this week.

Eh, we're joking but there is real fear and concern out there. I have a couple of cousins (both male and in their 40's) who tell me all the time how concerned they are about the future because they never went to college, worked in restaurants their entire adult lives, etc.

They feel like they have no skills in a world that now requires a college education and computer knowledge. And they're not racist or hate immigrants but their concern is legit.

I mean they should be concerned if that is their situation.

I'm just not sure what trump is going to do about it. It seems like the only way to take care of people like that is some sort of basic income but that's nowhere near happening.

As computers take more and more jobs, a universal basic income is going to become a necessity imo.

when the trucking industry finally moves into the AI realm (they're working on it!), a large part of the workforce is going to be hurting.

Yeah, it's a problem. The working class in this country has fallen thru the cracks unfortunately. They're not poor enough to qualify for govt assistance, yet they can't quite compete for jobs due to lack of skills, education, etc.

I mean, sort of. I wouldn't blow it out of proportion. They are still living fairly well.

Many trump supporters are doing just fine and they simply perceive it differently, too.
