Which makes me wonder:

Why not take that, let's say, $20, and gamble on one game in week 1, against the spread, for a 50/50 shot or however close they let you get.

If you win, gamble everything the next week (original $20 + $20 winnings), and so on.

At a certain point, if you keep winning, you'll need to make the same bet with different books, but that's OK.

Unlike a suicide pool, you can pick whomever you want every week. I know: the spread neutralizes that, at least theoretically. So let's call that handicap a wash.

If you win a moderately sized friendly suicide pool at $20 a head, you're lucky if you come away with what? $1,000? Maybe with a booky the prize could hit 5 figures.

At least potentially you could turn $20 into $2.5 million if you did the same basic thing but without the difficulty of having to use 17 different winners by just starting with $20 and betting one game a week until you lose.

Obviously the difficulty comes when you get u over $1,000 in winnings - you'll need to track down several betting parlors who will take portions of your bet (but you still only bet one game, just with as many people as it takes to bet all your winnings).

I guess that is more work than it's worth?
