My wife made a friend and we went to dinner tonight at their house, they have kids at comparable ages to our kids plus a 13 year old, we had a good time hanging out drinking and chatting. They just moved here from New Hampshire and are getting acclimated to the area. Was talking to the husband and he's telling me how he was in Dallas a few weeks ago for work and eating dinner at a nice restaurant and Jerry Jones was next to him and he said hey to him. Jerry asked him where he was from and he said outside Philly and then Jerry asked him if he was an Eagles fan he replied no he's a bills fan and Jerry said "good, I fucking hate the eagles." Then the guy tells me "my cousin works for the NFL and talks to owners regularly, I didn't tell Jerry that, bit he definitely knows my cousin, I just didn't want to be that guy". I didn't really say anything after that, then later on in the evening he's telling me how his cousin is taking his dad to the super bowl this year with his tickets from work, but his dad wasn't sure about it. I was like oh that's awesome, you've gotta do that if you get the chance! He says I know, that's what I told my dad, you never know if Roger is going to go on to something else so do it while he works there. So I said "lol, yeah Cuz Goodell probably isn't gonna have those tickets next year!" And he says "actually yeah, Roger Goodell is my cousin".

Mind blown. He then proceeds to tell me all about the Goodell family and how they grew up together. So in the past month my wife has made friends with the sister of the Arizona Cardinals vp of PR and Roger Goodell's cousin.

Yeah, for real. The best part is she has no idea. She's just like "I like these people, let's hang out" I go along because I don't have anything better to do and I've gotten free lower level Eagles tickets and now I'm apparently friends with Goodell's cousin talking about the private NFL jet. Gonna need to cultivate this friendship.

Done the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge a few times the past few days, and it's amusing to see the TOBACCO places as soon as one gets into PA and the BOOZE and GAS as soon as one gets into NJ

That's funny. I'll stop at Roger Wilco on Fridays if I have a party that weekend. Then I'll cross the bridge and stop at the tobacco outlet to pick up some cigars as well. I'm sure I hit the tobacco, booze, gas trifecta a few times too.

My son has been really into Santa Clause this year, pointing his finger and saying "A ho!" (short for Ho Ho Ho) every time he sees any sign of him. Which was harmless fun until today when we strolled past a female neighbor jogging in a Santa hat.

It was past time to let her go. Was a great pic though. The new chick is from a 2008 era TV spot so I guess she's not exactly current either, but no one needs to know that

Started looking into loan consolidation. I have rates north of 10%. I also owe >$100k. Maybe that decision to borrow extra to finance living with my ex-wife and commuting to school was a bad decision?

The Mummers organizers put out a 5 step plan to fix the problem:

We make clear that we vocally condemn any expressions of hate.
We pledge full cooperation with legal or government authorities looking into these areas of concern.
On the matter of the Mummer Comic tradition of satire and poking fun at pop culture, we will continue dialogue with Mummers about sensitivity and with non-Mummers about the Mummer tradition of humor and what can be accepted as freedom of expression and what is over the line.
We commit to educate and embrace inclusivity.
For any ethnic theme performed by a club, it will be required that the club have as advisors and/or participants members of that ethnicity to guarantee respect. These names will be made available to Division President, and to the media upon request.
We establish “Love the Mummers-Love the City” as a conduit for education of Mummers and non-Mummers and to bring the city closer together through inclusion in the parade of people from all walks of life and neighborhoods.
We will continue dialogue with community representatives and the City of Philadelphia and are beginning new discussions on issues of awareness, sensitivity, community standards and inclusion.
