thanks soren, the duel decks look like where it's at. I haven't even broached the subject with him yet, but I imagine he's heard of it by now. So the public games wouldn't be optimal quite yet. And it looks like there's lots and lots and lots of different duel decks. "Heroes vs. Monsters" sounds like it might be an entry-level thing. Or do you suggest something else? Sorin vs. Tibalt? :)

It's actually making a comeback in nerd circles. Podcasts like Brian Posehn's Nerd Poker, or the D&D/drinking game Crit Juice show some of the humour and remind older players why they liked it. Geek and Sundry does a weekly Twitch stream called Critcal Role with professional voice actors that's pretty damned cool just as some fantasy fiction. They really highlight the roleplaying side of things, but being voice actors they really sell the story.

Also, 5th edition D&D released fairly recently and is a pretty good system that's fairly easy for newcomers to pick up while still retaining a lot of the elements of 3.5 and AD&D that long time players missed/bitched about in 4th ed.

lemme look at decklists but really they're all pretty comparable. If you get whatever one is in stores now (Eldrazi vs Allies) it'll be cheaper/easier. Actually that one looks perfect. No planeswalkers which have their own set of weird rules that don't make sense compared to the rest of the game.

Just starting to be able to function again. Doctor said this hernia was much worse than originally anticipated. Went from potentially leaving same day to being in hospital over entire weekend. But it all went well so that's good. Glad I didn't wait any longer to get this done. Thanks for you guys kind words this morning

My mom just texted me that John Saunders died and I sent a message back saying how much like I liked him, hadn't heard anything and then realized a little later she was talking about her friend John Saunders who I should have known who she was talking about.

We can compare scars at the next BSG day! Mine's huge!

(Though mine isn't from a hernia, it's from a colon resection.)

Nothing that exciting, just a slew of people ignoring the "Paypal" and "Media, PA" parts of my listings, and others asking a ton of trifling questions before bailing

Selling on Stubhub had spoiled me, I guess, but they jacced up their fees
