No they get like 50 sick days a year and they roll over so he just started using them every Monday to the point that it was obvious. He received a written letter stating that he would need and excuse for any day off for three months. Well he wasn't sick on Monday's and everyone knew he was hungover basically. Doctor's know he is healthy and they can't just write you some fake stuff. So they gave him a rehab option now.

I wouldn't even support him if he ever actually was drinking at work.

That does suck but honestly, it's a decent option to have. If it got to the point where the employer noticed, then hopefully it's a bit of a wake up call and he can make some changes. Hope everything works out.

We had someone here who was rumored to drink at work and smelled of booze sometimes. He was told to go to the hospital for a BAC check or he'd be fired and he chose the fired.

I work for a pretty great place. Before I started, there was a guy in IT with a drinking problem. They paid for his rehab (unfortunately, he couldn't stick to it and had to leave)
