I'm more toward your end of the spectrum, generositywise, but I'm thinking TPie was merely consolidating the total give in one number. He's efficient that way.

Some other kibitzer needs to come along & help resolve the difference (though I do lean hard toward Slowhand's tough-love gifting philosophy).
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

How well do you know these kids? Are they good kids? I'd say for aunt/uncle, $100 is pretty good, if these friends are as close to you (or closer) than your siblings, that would be fine. If you know the kids themselves pretty well, you might kick it up to $200.

As far as grad school--I remember basically getting bupkus. By the time I finished, it was like, enough already.

No - $250 each.

$100 is for the kid you barely know or never met

1) Well
2) Yes

but see, the thing to remember is, they're siblings, and one finished grad school, and the other finished their undergrad degree. And you want me to blunder in there and give nothing to one, and $200 to the other?

Between you and TPie, well, I probably shouldn't have opened up this can of what turns out to be worms

Boy is that Joyce lady's face going to be red if these dudes kill someone.

Also, I can't decide if going to NYC as an escaped convict is stupid or brilliant.
