Yeah, his thoughts are interesting (i.e. strange) considering Pope Francis just said this two weeks ago:

Therefore the scientist, and above all the Christian scientist, must adopt the approach of posing questions regarding the future of humanity and of the earth, and, of being free and responsible, helping to prepare it and preserve it, to eliminate risks to the environment of both a natural and human nature.

Pope Francis also said that destroying the environment was a "grave sin against God the creator".

Without looking it up, I'm guessing Imhofe is not Catholic and is probably not into what this admittedly pretty awesome pope says.

When I called their process wonky, I wasn't just talking about the supermajority requirement. Read this page describing the ways in which Florida can amend its constitution and tell me how far you get before your head explodes.

Reince Pusballs has it that yesterday's vote was a rejection of Obama's policies "and all the people associated with them"

also a "total and complete" repudiation of Obamacare

direct quote

hell of a dogwhistle, Reince. He's still the republicans' asshole in chief, a gift that keeps on giving

if you're taking direction from this shitface, republicans, you're well and truly fucked

Meh. He'll make that back in no time with graft and corruption.

Inhofe must've missed the parts in the bible about people having stewardship of the earf. It's only mentioned about a dozen times.

The Conservative Case for Football

several great quotes from doc smooth's favorite congressman, jason chaffetz

So the Subcommittee on Football’s Never-Ending Existential Crisis would stipulate that Chaffetz knows something of the game. Although he’s not Steve Young, Chaffetz has been knocked around. Congressman, would you call federal hearings on head injuries?

“I’d rather not,” Chaffetz said. “We have enough to do in this world. If you don’t want to get a concussion, don’t play football."

...

Chaffetz said he had no interest in using Oversight as a prosecutor-at-large for sports leagues. He said he wanted “relevant people, non-steroid-using people” hauled before him. Is that true, Congressman? You won’t call hearings on brain injuries?

“Are there things the Department of Defense has learned about our troops in combat?” Chaffetz said. “Yeah. Let’s share best practices and some of the science. I buy that. But a congressional hearing to figure out that coming across the middle looking for a pass is going to hurt when you get smacked? Duh. Why do you think I watch the games?”
