My various horrible roommates part 6452:

so that girl was staying with us for the week while she was waiting on her new place...

things were going okay with her and i at first and she seemed kinda into me, but when she opened up, i realized she was batshit crazy, a borderline alcoholic/addict, and prone to making horrible decisions(which was later confirmed). also has the worst dog in the world, so i backed off.

my roommate and her ended up doing molly the night after i realized all this and apparently they were up until 5 am playing board games and talking, which doesn't sound horrible to me. however, my roommate bitched about it to me saying that he did molly with her "because she's cute and who knows" and that "it end up being a waste of my time". so some red flags there. i came home from work last night around 4:30 am to hear her annoying little dog barking up a storm and her yelling at the dog from one of the bedrooms. she obviously wasn't in my room and the other roommate is a girl and in her 40s so i doubted that. so i accidentally caught her trying to sneak out of his room an hour or so later as i was coming back from smoking in the garage(it's our designated area in the house) and her face just got really red. i just said "don't worry about it" and laughed.

none of this would sketch me out too much except my roommate has also been seeing this other girl off and on for 4-5 months, but they've been kinda "on" for 3 months now. then he sat me down today and basically said "so, what happens in this house stays in this house", which really disgusted me. in either case, i couldn't really care less about either of the girls so i'm not going to say anything, but it's less than comforting to be living with someone who is so manipulative, selfish, and callous.

mainly, i'm worried if i bring a female friend over that he's going to repeat this behavior, and then we will have a massive problem.

SPEAKING OF A SHOTGUN CHALLENGE

just came back from a fire call for odor of gas inside.

knock on the door, no answer. after i circled the house, i knocked again. the dude answers packing heat.

none of the houses have addresses on them, and this house had the mailbox in front of the dispatch address. but the three houses at the end of the cul de sac have their mailboxes in front of this one house for some reason, and none of the houses have any address markings.

usually in a call like that i'd go in street clothes with my badge on a chain around my neck, but for some reason i stopped to put on my fire gear. thankfully.

my cousin and parents are all on the same vacation together so instead of staying in my empty house i'm staying in my parents' for my days off. pretty great mini-staycation

kinda thought i hated every Goo Goo Dolls song but as it turns out "Long Way Down" is actually good

Phatj's post reminded me of the pork, potato cake, and sauteed onion sandwich I had for brunch last time I was in Portland. Best brunch sandwich I ever had.

Place also had biscuits and gravy made with Elk meat.
