We had to cancel our vacation plans this week because my grandfather's not doing well, so I just took a few days off and we did some day trips instead. Yesterday, we just did stuff around the house, and we setup a slip and slide in the yard and I went on it with the kids.

Holy shit, I feel like I was in a car accident or something, everything hurts today, good god man. Getting old sucks.

Thanks to everyone who has offered help with our move. We are still learning about the area...looks like I have a pretty good shot at transferring within my company. That will help out a lot. Also, you guys can crash at our place in February when the Eagles are in the Super Bowl.

I know the area really well. I know you are learning about the area, but if you really do need some first hand knowledge especially about where to live here, don't hesitate to ask. Do you plan on renting or buying, do you have kids, how far are you willing to commute, do you like urban or suburban areas? I can tell you what areas you should concentrate your search to.

There are some areas and neighborhoods that the housing bubble truly destroyed that may look good online or even once or twice in person that really are not good neighborhoods. It's kind of a suburban ghetto. You can find these places in south Phoenix, west valley and south east valley.

As a simple rule of thumb... If your nearest supermarket is a food city or rancho mercado, you may want to live somewhere else.
