last night may have been the final straw in pushing me the way of playing covers full-time.

place was packed. sluts were buying us drinks (even though we were already drinking for free). people wanted to talk to us and were telling us how good we were. guy asked us to play another set and paid us accordingly. my partner gave me all the extra money. the 40 or so 90s songs we played totally made up for having to learn luke bryan and zac brown songs. my head and hands hurt like hell, but i'll take it. 3 1/2 hours of slapping congas isn't as glamorous as it looks.

oh, and we didn't practice.
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

I guess you don't listen to the show. This situation is not surprising.

Something isn't right about the story

Cumia was taking photos in Times Square on Tuesday when he was allegedly assaulted by an African-American woman who didn't want her picture taken. He then went on a tirade on Twitter, writing a slew of offensive and racists posts about the incident.

According to Cumia, the woman was in the frame of one of his shots, and upon discovering this, immediately assaulted him, punching him in the face. He proceed to call her an “animal bitch” and a “savage,” referring to her as “it” and stating that “they aren't people.” He described the race situation in America as a “battle,” adding that “we are losing.”

“It's really open season on white people in this day and age,” he wrote. “No recourse. Fight back and you're a racist. The predators know this. Good luck”

Nitpicking, I know, but the "Home of the free because of the brave" posts bug the shit out of me.

Thanks mom and dad for thinking I can't put together a family BBQ by myself. Now I have 12 burgers, countless hotdogs, and a vat of pasta salad because you bought everything I already had. Not complaining.

He was fired.

I've only ever heard clips of them when they interview people I like, but I've never once heard them say anything funny. And they look like raging coke heads.

from what I've read they used to be funnier but devolved into a more political show (rampant misogyny and incendiary racial language included). I have an old friend who has gotten really into them and basically adopted their views to the point that I never want to speak with him again (tbf mutual friends already thought he was an asshole even before I gave up on him)

that said, Louis C.K. and Patrice O'Neal have both had legendary comedic moments on their shows

Yeah I listened to them a bit back like 10 years ago but found their guests to be the best part. I got a new car recently that had satellite radio on it so I gave them a listen and was surprised at how bitter, angry and unfunny the show had become. This incident isn't surprising at all.

I listened to O&A religiously back when they were on in NY on WNEW before they were syndicated etc. and listened up until they got dumped for the Sex for Sam thing. Loved them back then. Then I was an XM subscriber when they came back so I ponied up the extra buck a month to get their channel when they started on there. It wasn't quite as good as it was on NEW, but it was still funny. After a while, they found their stride on xm and went back on terrestrial for half the show. They were still edgy and funny, but they started to get really jaded and cynical. I think that cynicism was always there, but they could use it for their benefit, like when trashing their management or whatever higher power they were hating on because it was funny and relatable, they were their audience. Working class guys, who were pissed off at their job/boss/ex wife/neighbor and could make it funny. They were still kind of the underdog, so it connected. Over the years the bitching just got to be unbearable though, it went from "hey management won't let us do this funny bit!" To "hey management is just wholley incompetent and holding us back from being funnier" to "hey I want to have more guns and the government won't let me!"

I cancelled my xm subscription shortly after Obama was elected, I wasn't commuting anymore and I couldn't get xm in my house, so it just didn't make sense to keep paying for it, I thought I was going to miss O&A, but I really didn't. They were still occasionally funny, mostly when they had Louis CK, Patrice, Bill Burr or even Vos on, but in between the funny segments there was just unbearable levels of bitching they'd even acknowledge how much the fans hated it and didn't care. The "hard core" fans defended them, but I think most folks just kind of got sick of it and they became irrelevant. About a month ago, I googled them to see if they were still on the air, I hadn't heard about them in so long I was just curious if they'd ended the show. I guess now they have.
