Two cars, two accidents for this guy today.

First I sideswiped a car that was in my blind spot while trying to change lanes. Then I suppose I was so shaken up that I completely neglected to put my car in park when I got out to exchange insurance info. My car rolled (uphill) right into the other one as I jumped in the driver's seat to slam my foot on the brake. Plus, because there were two separate "impacts" (both were minor scrapes), it's two different deductibles.

Unfreakingbelievable.

It reminds me of when I got pulled over for blocking the box in Times Square and then found a cop to help me understand the ticket (later in the day), and it was the same guy. "Surely you have a law like that in Pennsylvania!" "No, officer, we don't encourage our drivers to run red lights."

I think I told the story before, but one morning I went out to warm up my car in the driveway. As a force of habit (and a case of being mostly asleep), I put it in reverse and released the emergency brake. Started walking back to the house and realized the car was backing toward my neighbor's car across the street. Opened the door and slid in while landing my foot right on the brake just in time. Closest I've ever felt to being an action hero.
