My junior year we booed Nguyen Cao Ky the fuck off the stage (technically, he never actually came ON stage). He'd been invited to speak by classmate and not-as-yet-founder of Priceline Jay Walker. Fuck you, Ky! Fuck you, Jay!

oh, and our class also dissolved the University's student government. Fuck you, big red bear!

The Iron Bank doesn't buy Christie's story.

(Nor de Blasio's. It's been interesting to see all the liberals at the NYT and elsewhere around here hail this candyman budget, then sort of cringe when more disinterested parties point out all the magical thinking it contains.)

Female media executive fired, called 'pushy' after questioning why she was paid less than her male predecessor. One can only hope the NY Times' august editorial page will bring their moral clarity to shine a light on this issue and ask once and for all what it will take to get Republicans to stop their #waronwomen.

I agree with most of your post, but take some issue with this part. I think it really depends on your perspective. If you believe that Rice knowingly participated in lies to start a war that cost well over 100,000 lives then maybe it's a reasonable response to feel like your commencement was ruined by her presence there. I doubt I would have protested because I would have been too busy trying to enjoy my graduation with friends and family, but I'm pretty sure I would have been sitting there listening to her talk thinking about what she did and how much it made me sick to my stomach. But then I think what she did went way beyond the moral compromises that most public officials routinely do. She may not be evil, but her actions certainly were.

http://watchdog.org/144359/police-search-secret-compartment/

The state Supreme Court ruled last week that police are allowed to search vehicles without a warrant. The state General Assembly, meanwhile, is moving forward with a bill that would give cops the authority to arrest people caught with “secret compartments” in their vehicles, even if there is nothing illegal in those suspicious containers.

What a terrible decision, good job PA I'm sure this won't be abused.

Not really sure where this fits best, but there is a game in the works called Glorious Leader that has Kim riding a unicorn through North Korea where he is chased by drones, meets an armed Rodman on a BBall court, etc. the game screen shots

I thought Obama was only nominating radical liberals to the bench. I guess this guy is too liberal for Harry Reid?

This Is the Greatest Get-Out-the-Vote Video Ever Made

He interrupts couples having sex and throws people into voting booths. He has a terrible mustache and even worse teeth. He is Voteman, and, for whatever reason, Danish parliamentary officials thought he was the perfect mascot for the country's get-out-the-vote campaign ahead of European parliamentary elections. He's probably the world's first get-out-the-vote mascot to be introduced to his audience while receiving fellatio from a handful of voluptuous women.

In a NSFW video released earlier this week, the people of Denmark received their first introduction to Voteman and his turbulent life story. As a young man, he forgot to vote in European Union parliamentary elections -- robbing him of a chance to weigh in on hot-button issues like agricultural subsidies -- and ever since he has dedicated his life to ensuring that people go to the polls. He typically does so via random acts of violence, including, but not limited to, randomly beheading Danes, throwing couples who are having sex through their bedroom windows, and punching passersby in the mouth.

It's difficult to do justice to the video, which also features Voteman cruising into action while strapped to the blowholes of a pair of dolphins. (Depending on how permissive your workplace is on the subject of animated nudity, it's probably not safe for the office).

It really is amazing to see the right try to form any narrative they can with that. They're almost surprised that people who want social equality don't like people actively working against that.

According to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, this trend is growing. In the 21 years leading up to 2009, there were 21 incidents of an invited guest not speaking because of protests. Yet, in the past five-and-a-half years, there have been 39 cancellations.

Or is it that the speakers receiving the protest have gotten more sensitive over the years and more likely to withdraw?
