oh! thanks for the reminder. it was crazy really.

i showed up a little before 5:30 at tendenza with my coworker/friend. we get shuttled to the basement where a bunch of others are already waiting. fill out some paperwork so we can get paid.

one of the guys, brad, working on the show asks who brought their cars bc they needed them for out front so the street looks full. i volunteer mine. he asks if i have ever done this before. i told him no. he said okay youre going to be a stand in which is an upgrade from just extra i would later find out.

i had to go upstairs to the set immediately with this guy and the other stand in. i was pretty stressed bc i had no idea what my new upgraded role meant and basically had no idea what was going on. brad introduces us to someone else and tells us just to do whatever she says.

we are handed some small scripts and told to review two scenes. so at this point im thinking i have to read lines and act. im freaking out a bit on the inside. we are told to watch a scene involving two males in what is supposed to be one of the character's apartment bedroom. its a gay sex scene. the two actors are in their underwear. one is giving the other guy a BJ. i am a stand in for the guy getting the BJ. my character gets thrown on the bed and flipped over and then gasps i guess bc the other guy sticks it in his butt.

so we watch the rehearsal just so we know what to do just in case they need us. we have to step outside the set. they go through the whole scene a bunch of times. i can hear the actors moaning. at one point the wardrobe guy had to sew some buttons back on a shirt bc they went through the 4 or 5 they had bc of so many takes of ripping the dudes shirt off.

they ended up not needing us to stand in. i was a bit relieved.

but for the next scene we had to. it was just the same two characters flirting at the bar. one buys the other drinks. and it turns out standing in just means standing there and doing the actors movements as they set up the lighting and cameras for all the different angles. but i really didnt know that until it was actually happening. the director would tell us to move around and they would put tape at our feet so the real actors knew where to stand. the other stand in at one point even asked if i had memorized all the lines (i hadnt). that made me pretty nervous too. we ended up not needing to say any of the lines.

when they actually ran through that second scene i basically just walked by in the background a few times throughout the scene. there were some pretty attractive ladies there too working as extras. my friend, since he was actually with them the whole time and not standing in, was getting hit on by a few pretty big. he has a gf though.

it was a cool experience. didnt realize so many hours went into what basically amounts as 15 seconds of television. depending on how they edit the scene you will probably be able to spot me. it is a pilot so i dont know if it has technically been picked up for a full season yet.

This is good stuff, but still not enough to stop us hassling you about shoveling snow.
